AFE Participated in the Second Turkish – Arab Capital Markets Forum

The Arab Federation of Exchanges, represented by its Chairman, its Secretary General and a group of its members had participated in the “Second Turkish – Arab Capital Markets Forum” that was held in Istanbul – Turkey on September 30, 2013. The Secretary General of the AFE, Dr. Fadi Khalaf delivered a speech in the first panel that focused on the integration and harmonization between securities markets.

Through his speech Dr. Khalaf presented the performance of Arab Markets in terms of market capitalization, value of transactions and the turnover velocity scored by the members of the AFE.

Likewise, Dr. Khalaf presented the performance of the Arab markets since the international financial crisis and the recovery gained by these markets compared to the International Financial Markets. In this respect, he presented a recent analysis of the correlation between Arab Stock Markets, and the International Markets, the Turkish Market and the International Oil Market.

Other speeches were also given by the Chairman of the AFE and the CEO of Tunis Stock Exchange, Mr. Mohammad Bichiou, and by Mr. Ahmad Al Marhoon, General Director of Muscat Securities Market, in which they highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Arab Stock Exchanges and the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
